TRAVEL TOUR PROPOSES :
EXCURSION RESERVE OF ZINGARO, SCOPELLO, GUIDALOCA, FARAGLIONI (CASTELLAMMARE DEL GOLFO - TRAPANI)
The Zingaro Reserve extends in the western part of the Gulf of Castellammare, in the peninsula of San Vito Lo Capo overlooking the Tyrrhenian Sea between Castellammare del Golfo and Trapani, The territory falls partly in the municipality of San Vito Lo Capo and partly in the municipality of Castellammare; it extends along 7 km of coastline and almost 1,700 hectares of unspoiled nature. a reserve hosts about 670 infrageneric plant taxa, some of which are endemic and rare. Of these 502 are dicotyledonous, 153 monocotyledons 3 gymnosperms and 10 pteridophytes. Of considerable interest is the lichen flora which includes for the reserve 130 species while for the mosses 35 species are known. 27 species of fungi have also been detected in the territory of the reserve. The original landscape consisted mostly of an evergreen Mediterranean forest (xerophilous forest) whose traces are still represented by areas of holm oak, where small ferns, cyclamens, bushes of butcher's broom (Ilex aquifolium) and, at the western limit of the reserve, also by fragments of cork oak, testimony of that forest formation to cork now almost completely disappeared in the rest of western Sicily. The predominant landscape in coastal areas is that of low scrub characterized by sparse villous (Calicotome villosa), the odorous broom (Spartium junceum), the wild thyme (Thymus vulgaris), the Erica multiflora, the olivastro (European olea var.sylvestris), the arboreal euphorbia (Euphorbia dendroides) and the euphorbia from Bivona (Euphorbia bivonae). There are also laurel, mallow, caper, wild fennel. The currently most peculiar aspect of the reserve is however the dwarf palm garigue, which characterizes large areas of the coastal landscape and that in Zingaro district, where there are specimens of Chamaerops humilis that reach the 2-3 m of height, assumes importance of stain. you will find yourself immersed in a natural environment of wild charm, paths that wind through clumps of dwarf palm trees and spots of rosemary, caves that suddenly open on the cliffs and cliffs of the Caribbean where, especially in summer,
In the Zingaro Nature Reserve, there are no less than 39 species of birds, including the peregrine falcon, the main trail of the reserve, the most visited by visitors. It runs for about 7 km and connects the entrance of Scopello, south entrance to that of San Vito Lo Capo north entrance. It lasts about 2 hours one way.
